Steps to Atonement and Redemption
Steps To Atonement and Redemption (STAR) is a fundraising initiative that aims to raise £200,000 for two charities and one community group that are committed to bringing about long lasting change.
The aim is to address many of the detrimental effects of gun and knife crime.
To achieve this, 3 men (the youngest being just 16) will commit to walking from London to Birmingham in 4 days. This is a total of 131 miles (211km) and is the equivalent of 5 marathons. Money raised will go the The From Boyhood to Manhood Foundation based in South London, and the Yaa Asantewaa Nanny project in Birmingham. A portion of the money will also be donated to a new London based initiative for women called the 100 Mothers Movement.
Our community has much healing to do and many ask what will STAR solve? The question is: will us doing nothing, sitting back and accept the illusion that others will solve it for us be the answer?
STAR is an initiative set up by volunteers in the community to support organisations that already exist, both promotionally and financially. The power of the collective over the individual and leading by example are not to be underestimated. If the community support this project then STAR will make a difference.
If you wish to give back and contribute to the STAR project there are numerous ways to do so:
Make a text donation by texting the word star to 82055. £1 will go directly to the project.
(Total cost of each text is £1.50)
